LIFE Church is excited to announce that, after 17 years of perseverance and transition, it has established its first permanent home at 19 John Davenport. What was once a site marked by a colorful—sometimes somber—history has been transformed into a welcoming sanctuary at the heart of the community.
The land and building at 19 John Davenport carry a storied past. The area saw the Battle of Rome in the Civil War, and the building itself was formerly home to lively bars and, notably, Discomania 2000. Now, LIFE Church stands as a symbol of hope and inclusion, dedicated to helping people love God, love others, and make disciples.
LIFE Church’s journey began in a local movie theater. When the theater declined a short-term rental arrangement, the church moved as tenants into a space in Armurchee, which was eventually sold. The following year saw the congregation adapting to temporary spaces, facing uncertainty once again.
“For 17 years, not having a place to truly call home was a heavy burden for our leadership and congregation. The weariness and anxiety of not knowing where we’d gather next was always on my mind,” shared the church’s founding Pastor, Jason Stockton. “Now, being able to say we have a place where we can gather—a place that can’t be sold out from under us—brings an immeasurable sense of stability.”
Over the years, LIFE Church has experienced significant growth, now offering three services to accommodate its expanding community. The new building is affectionately described as the congregation’s “starter home”—a foundation for the future, with the expectation that they will outgrow it. Still, the value of stability and having a dedicated place for worship and fellowship is, they say, priceless.
LIFE Church invites the community to visit their new home as they continue their mission: to love God, love others, and make disciples in a space that welcomes all.
