Rome Man Jailed for Hitting Woman with his Flashlight, Attack on Child

Cody Joseph Staud, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week in Rome after reports said he hit his girlfriend in the face with his flashlight.

Reports stated that Straud threw the flashlight at the victim, striking her in the right eye.

The victim suffered a blackened eye and a cut to her face.

The incident occurred at a home on Ash Street and in front of the victim’s minor son.

Reports added that Staud also grabbed a child by their hoodie and dragged them across the floor.

The victim stated that they were unable to breathe due to the pressure.

Staud is charged with battery, 1^st degree cruelty to children and 3^rd degree cruelty to children.
