Mark Euphene Evans, 48 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he assaulted a 22 year-old man and then proceeded to rip a telephone out of a woman’s hand while she was attempting to call 911 for help.
The victim reported that Evans “got in his face”, which placed him in fear of his safety.
Reports added that the female victim was attempting to call police for help when Evans allegedly grabbed it from her hand and refused to give it back.
The incident occurred at a location on Old Summerville Road.
Evans is charged with simple battery, simple assault and obstruction of a person making a 911 call.
