Colby Lynn Bevels, 34 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he ran from police following him committing a hit and run at a gas station pump.
Officers said that Bevels backed into a gas pump of a store on Gadsden Road before fleeing the scene.
Bevels was later found at Rolater Park in Cave Spring by authorities. When police attempted to approach Bevels, he fled on foot into a weeded area. He was found after a two-hour search.
Reports added that the damage done at the service station was “extensive”.
Bevels is charged with felony obstruction, attempting to elude police, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, failure to report and accident and probation violation.
