Qcells, a leading solar panel manufacturer, is expanding its presence in Cartersville with a new recycling facility, the company announced Monday. The new venture, EcoRecycle by Qcells, will recycle up to 500,000 solar panels annually, recovering materials like aluminum, glass, copper, and silver.

“As the U.S. builds a more sustainable solar industry, EcoRecycle by Qcells will drive innovation in recycling while supporting the circular economy,” said Jung-Kwon Hong, head of Qcells Manufacturing Group.

Currently, most used panels end up in landfills due to limited recycling options. Kelly Weger, Qcells’ senior director of sustainability, emphasized the importance of addressing solar waste for the sector’s long-term resilience.

Qcells has operated in Georgia since 2019, with major facilities in Dalton and Cartersville.
