Dakota Keith Turner, 28 of Buchanan, was jailed in Cedartown after reports said he punched his girlfriend with a closed fist and then held her against her will in a car before kidnapping her child.
The victim told police that after Turner hit her in the face, she attempted to escape his car. She added that after opening the door, she fell on the road before trying to run away on foot. Turner then proceeded to chase and drag her back to the car.
However, Turner released her before he ran back to the vehicle, where the victim’s child remained, and fled the scene.
The vehicle and the child were later found in Haralson County.
The child was then returned to its mother in Cedartown.
Reports stated that the victim suffered visible injuries to her face, arm and leg.
Turner is charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and battery.
