Santos Castanon Gonzalez, 21 of Cedartown, was arrested recently following a drunken altercation with police.
Reports said that officers had stopped at Grand’s (724 South Main Street) when they observed a male in a blue in color hoodie (hood was covering his head) standing at the counter attempting to purchase alcohol.
While standing there, the male appeared to be very unsteady on his feet, falling onto the counter multiple times. At one point, the male asked for a pen and wrote on a United States dollar bill, asking about the store’s restroom.
As the male turned to look at the officer, he placed his hands behind his back as if he understood that he would be going to jail.
After being placed under arrest and taken to jail, Gonzalez fell as if he had passed out in the booking lobby.
Jail staff then refused to accept Gonzalez due to his intoxicated state.
He was then taken to Polk Medical Center, where he was medically cleared.
While escorting Gonzalex from the hospital room, he pretended again to pass out and fall on the floor.
After getting Gonzalez up, he once again fell to the floor and forced officers to carry him through the doorway.
At this point, Gonzalez proceeded to attempt to kick officers.
After being placed in the patrol car, Gonzalez continued to attempt to kick officers. During a struggle with officers, Gonzalez proceeded to damage the rear passenger door of the patrol vehicle.
Gonzalez is charged with public drunkenness, interference with government property, and two counts obstruction.
