Josiah Trevon Smith, 17 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he led police on a chase of speeds over 100 miles per hour.

Reports said events began when Smith fled from officers during a road check on North Avenue. As officers went to pull Smith over, he reportedly drove at speeds in excess of 101 mph in a 55 mph zone.

During the chase, Smith ran a red light at North Avenue and Calhoun Avenue and a second at Calhoun Road at Ga Loop 1.  He continued to run a stop sign on Barron Road while making improper lane changes.

After eventually stopping, reports said that the only violation Smith would have had if he had stopped at the road check was driving with a class CP permit and did not have it in his possession.

Smith is charged with reckless driving, reckless driving, two counts obstruction, speeding, two counts failure to obey traffic control devices, stop sign violation, improper lane change, driving without license in possession and driving in violation of license class.
