Michael Wayne Messer Jr, 45 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he stole alcohol from Cheer’s Liquor and was later found hiding in the woods of a homeless camp behind the former Big Lots store on Shorter Avenue.
Police said that Messer stole Jose Cuervo and Everfresh Pineapple before fleeing the store.
Messer is charged with theft by shoplifting.
