The stakes have never been higher as two local powerhouses prepare to collide. On Thursday night, the Model High School Blue Devils will face off against the Armuchee High School Indians in the Final Four of the Georgia State Boys’ Soccer Tournament.
The all-Rome matchup promises to be one of the most anticipated showdowns of the season, with a trip to the state championship on the line. Both teams have battled through a tough playoff bracket to reach this point, and Friday’s match is expected to draw a packed and energetic crowd.
Model (15-4) enters the semifinal riding a wave of momentum to go against cross-community foe Armuchee (13-5).
The Indians defeated Toombs County 2-1 this week to reach the Final 5. The Blue Devils arrive after beating Rabun County.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday night. Both schools are encouraging fans to show up in full force and create an atmosphere worthy of a Final Four showdown.
One team will move on to the state title game. The other will see a dream season come to an end. All that remains is 80 minutes — and maybe more — to settle it on the field.
The winner will face the winner of Fannin County and Thomasville on May 13th.
