The Rome International Paper Mill recently raised over $221,000 at its sixth annual Rome Mill Classic golf tournament, benefiting the United Way of Rome and Floyd County.
Funds for the event were generated through tournament sponsorships, with International Paper matching the contributions made by local sponsors.
Over the past six years, the tournament has collectively raised more than $946,000 to support United Way’s mission in the community, which focuses on empowering the local workforce and preventing crises by connecting individuals with essential resources and services.
“International Paper has consistently demonstrated what it means to truly care about the community. From their generous financial contributions to hands-on volunteering, they make a significant impact,” said Alli Mitchell, CEO of United Way of Rome and Floyd County. “The funds raised through this tournament address urgent needs in our community, supporting vital programs that make a real difference. In the past year, we have invested in addressing hunger and nutrition for vulnerable groups, such as children, teens, and other at-risk populations, as well as efforts to prevent homelessness by offering emergency utility, rent, and mortgage assistance. These actions help keep our neighbors housed and our workforce stable.”
