Keon Tywun Mathis, 38 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he attacked a woman after she refused to have sex with him.

Police said that when they arrived on the scene, they first saw the victim’s vehicle with a hole in the windshield. The owner stated that Mathis became angry at her when she refused to have sexual relations with him.

Officers then located Mathis riding a bicycle, but he sped away when he saw them. Police stated that after locating Mathis behind a building on Forrest Avenue, he dropped the bicycle and a backpack before jumping over a fence.

The victim then told police that Mathis placed his foot under her tire in an attempt to keep her from leaving. He then took a knife and scratched the side of her car before stabbing the side tire of the car and smashing the windshield with the knife.

A K-9 officer was dispatched to the area, where it found Mathis inside of a dumpster.

A witness told police that they observed Mathis repeatedly hitting the victim and grabbing her hair during the dispute.

After speaking with the victim for a second time, she then admitted to police that Mathis did indeed hit her and choked her with his hands. The officer reported that there were visible markings on the victim to corroborate the story.

Mathis is charged with aggravated assault, battery, false imprisonment, 2nd degree criminal damage to property, obstruction, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of cocaine, crossing the guard line with drugs and tampering with evidence.
