The Bartow County Planning Commission has given a green light to a proposed rezoning for a major data center project along Taff Road, just south of Highway 113 near Stilesboro.

The initiative, referred to as Project Bunkhouse, involves transforming 867 acres into a high-tech data facility. The project is expected to roll out in three phases over the next 6 to 10 years.

Developers estimate that once fully operational, the facility could generate more than $50 million in tax revenue at its peak.

The commission’s recommendation now moves to Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor, who holds the final authority on the matter. He is set to host a public hearing on June 4 before making a decision.

This comes shortly after the same commission advised against a separate data center proposal near Barnsley Gardens Road just last month.
