Thomas Roddricas Calhoun, 24, Shandia Taenara Calhoun, 43, Caden LaRay Golder, 21, Dartania Cantrez Arnold, 28, Quntavious Murphy, all of Cedartown, and Davin Jalon McConnell, 24 of Silver Creek, have all been arrested and facing various drug and weapon charges following a drug distribution bust at a home on East Gibson Street in Cedartown.
Cedartown police responded to a call about a reckless ATV driver on East Gibson Street. Upon arrival, officers observed Thomas Calhoun operating the ATV, followed closely by a burgundy Mercedes SUV. Calhoun stopped the ATV in front of 123 East Gibson Street, and two individuals, later identified as Dartonia Arnold and Quntavious Murphy, exited the SUV and entered the residence at that location.
When officers made contact with Calhoun, he provided his driver’s license. While checking Calhoun’s information, Cedartown Officer Dane Hunter and Sgt. Jon Zuker arrived on the scene. Sgt. Zuker noticed suspected narcotics, specifically marijuana packaged for distribution, in plain view on the driver’s seat of the Mercedes SUV.
In response, officers proceeded to the residence to arrest Arnold and Murphy. Upon knocking on the door, there was no response. When officers moved to the back of the house, they witnessed Murphy attempting to flee the scene by jumping a fence, while Arnold ran into the house. Officer R. Johnson pursued Arnold, who attempted to close the door on him. After forcing the door open, Officer Johnson drew his weapon and issued commands for Arnold to surrender, which he did without further incident.
During Arnold’s arrest, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the residence. As they waited for a search warrant, they cleared the house and encountered Marcus Harris in a bedroom, whom they escorted to the front porch.
A search warrant was subsequently obtained, and a thorough search of the home revealed significant evidence of drug distribution. In Bedroom #1, officers found a scale, a white iPhone, a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm pistol, a black ski mask, and a large quantity of prepackaged marijuana. Other items seized included a Glock 10mm, a Glock 17 9mm, multiple firearms magazines, prescription pills, and bags of various illicit drugs, including heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine, Xanax, ecstasy, and more.
Additionally, in the back bedroom, officers found marijuana, cash, and other items consistent with drug trafficking, such as digital scales, a vacuum sealer, a marijuana grinder, and homemade drug edibles. A camouflage backpack on the front porch, belonging to Davin McConnell, contained marijuana packaged in a manner similar to that found inside the residence.
The burgundy Mercedes SUV was secured and towed to the Cedartown Police Department for further investigation. The following individuals were arrested and transported to the Polk County Detention Center: Thomas Calhoun, Dartonia Arnold, Quntavious Murphy, Marcus Harris, Caden Golder, and Davin McConnell.
