Stella Kay Kirby, 74 of Rockmart, was arrested this week after a domestic violence call at a home on Old Collard Valley Road.
The report said that Kirby’s husband called police and said Stella is continuously doing things around the house to provoke him into either attacking her or simply trying to start an argument.
The victim said that he has had to physically defend himself from Stella due to violent outbursts towards him.
In this instance, Stella reportedly threw heavy objects at him and clawed at his face. Officers said that they observed the victim to have numerous claw marks on his face and neck. The claw marks were fresh and had various amounts of dried blood upon each wound. The victim was also suffering from claw marks on both forearms and biceps.
Reports added that the victim also suffered from substantial bruising on both arms that looked as if he had been grabbed and hit with a blunt object.
The victim also stated that Stella unlawfully put the vast majority of his personal belongings on his front porch as part of an illegal eviction.
When police attempted to speak with Stella, she barricaded herself in the home. Efforts were made at both doors and windows of the home to advise Stella of the current investigation, however, Stella refused to come to the door or reply to officers on scene.
The victim then advised police that he could kick his door in to allow officers to conduct the investigation. Upon the husband kicking the door in, officers entered the home and made their presence known again. Stella was located in a bed that was approximately 6-8 feet away from the same windows and doors where officers were yelling to her.
Kirby is charged with battery and obstruction.
