Joseph Lamar Hood, 45 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he assaulted a woman at a home on Greenbrian Drive.
Reports stated that police were dispatched to the home after a woman called 911, screamed, and then hung up the telephone.
Officers said that after they arrived on the scene, a female met them on the road crying. She informed the police that her father had gotten into a verbal argument and that her father put her hands around her throat, choking he,r then slammed her to the ground.
Reports added that the victim, Hood, told police that she started yelling at him and cursing him out before getting in his face.
Hood stated that at this time that he put his hands on his daughter’s neck and choked her. Hood told police that his daughter was not going to get in his face and disrespect him.
Hood is charged with aggravated assault.
