A 60 year-old Rome man, identified as Jeffery Scott Nelson, was killed after his motorcycle crashed into a car on Shorter Avenue near Soho Hibachi Thursday night.

Reports said that Nelson was driving his Kawasaki west on Shorter Avenue when an eastbound Mitsubishi Diamante made a left turn onto Delwood Drive and struck the motorcycle.

Police said that the Kawasaki hit the rear of the Mitsubishi and sent Nelson in the air around 35 feet.

 The driver of the Mitsubishi has been identified as a 44 year-old Jasmen Labronze Lofton.

The Kawasaki hit the rear of the Mitsubishi, and Nelson was killed. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will conduct an autopsy.

Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:10 pm.

His body will be sent to the GBI crime lab for an autopsy.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
