Deonquavious DeShawn Williams, 30 of Rome, was arrested in Cedartown for drug trafficking.
Reports said that officers observed Deon Williams (Deonqavios Deshawn Williams) walking in the area of Jones Street and Central Street, heading west on Central Street toward South Main Street.
After discovering that Williams had active warrants for probation violations, as indicated by GCIC, contact with the suspect was made in the at Grands Food Store.
During our initial contact, officers said that they removed a black backpack from Williams. While we were removing the backpack, Williams stated that he had “something,” referring to narcotics. Officers then asked him if he had a gun, to which Williams replied that he did.
A search of the backpack resulted in officers finding approximately 18.6 ounces of marijuana, 14 Oxycodone pills, a mixture of 26 Adderall
capsules and tablets, and 136 Ecstasy tablets, along with an undetermined number of small pieces of Ecstasy.
Also, holographic bags, plastic clear baggies, and a working digital scale that are used to divide and sell narcotics were found within the backpack.
Additionally, a Smith & Wesson SD9 VE 9mm handgun, with serial number FBU3570, was found in the same backpack. The firearm was loaded and ready for use. Along with the firearm, an extended magazine was also discovered. The firearm was then run through GCIC and was found to be stolen within the city limits of Cedartown between July 15 and July 20, 2020.
Williams is charged with theft by receiving, possession of a controlled substance near a housing project, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm in an attempt to commit a felony, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drugs with intent to distribute, two counts possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, trafficking drugs, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, distribution of marijuana, and probation violation.
