Ansley Lynn Causey, 20 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she starved a dog until it died.
Reports said that Causey maliciously failed to provide to such animal adequate food and water that is consistent with what a reasonable person of ordinary knowledge would believe is the normal requirement and feeding habit for such animal’s size, species, breed, age, and physical condition to the extent that caused the death of such animal.
DeeDee, a brindle female dog, was deceased upon arrival. She was found severely emaciated as her ribs, lumbar vertebrae, pelvic bones and all bony prominences were evident from a distance, with no discernible body fat.
The dog scored a 1 of 9 on the Purina Body Conditioning Scale. A necropsy was performed which determined that the dog died from starvation.
Causey is charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.
