Christophe Shane Meers, 52 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he forced his way into a home on Morrison Campground Road and attacked a 32 year-old woman.
Reports said that Meers damaged the front door in order to gain entry while using vulgar and profane language toward the victim.
A 10 year-old child was home and witnessed the attack.
Both the victim and the child told police that they feared for their lives.
Meers is charged with simple assault, first degree burglary, 2nd degree cruelty to children, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct.
