The Northwest Georgia Housing Authority announced that at the end of May they will close its childcare facilities in both Rome and Rockmart.
Close to 100 children will be impacted at the centers, which are located at 141 East 14th Street and at 1030 North Piedmont Avenue in Rockmart.
According to a release the closures are “due to financial challenges the Northwest Georgia Housing Authority has made the difficult decision to close its childcare facilities, Rome Children’s Academy and Rockmart Children’s Academy effective May 31, 2025.”
“We are deeply disappointed that we have been unable to secure the additional funding necessary to keep our facilities open. Our teachers and staff have been exceptionally skilled and enthusiastic about their ability to provide their services, and we recognize how difficult these closures will be for them and the families served.” said NWGA Housing Authority Executive Director Justin Jones.
