Christopher Lee Dixon has been CAPTURED.
No other suspects are being sought in connection with last night’s homicide/arson on James Street near Resaca. Dixon was shot by law enforcement after being found hiding underneath a mobile home. He is being treated and is expected to survive. He will face charges of Murder and other offenses. Sheriff Ralston wishes to express special thanks to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) SWAT team, the GSP Aviation Unit, Fire/Rescue, and Whitfield County Sheriff Darren Pierce and his Chief Deputy Todd Thompson, who were both on scene, and all of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s personnel who responded as well. More information will be made available as the investigation proceeds.

At about 7:30pm Tuesday night, Gordon County Deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a private residence on James Street near Resaca in response to a report of a disturbance in which one man had been shot.
Upon arrival, deputies found the home in flames. Gordon County Fire Rescue personnel fought the fire for several hours. A body was subsequently discovered inside the home, which burned to the ground.
Deputies are now searching for Christopher Lee Dixon, age 46, height 6’00”, 240 lbs. brown hair, brown eyes, in connection to this case.
Warrants have been issued for Dixon’s arrest. He is considered armed, dangerous, and a flight risk.
Anyone with knowledge of the whereabouts of Christopher Lee Dixon should call 911. Dixon should not be approached. The investigation is continuing in conjunction with Gordon County Fire Rescue, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the County Coroner.
