The qualifying period has concluded for the upcoming special election in the City of Fairmount, where the positions of Mayor and City Council Post 1 are available for election.
This special election is scheduled for March 18, following the resignations of Tyler Leamer and Steve Fain earlier this year. All residents within the Fairmount city limits are eligible to cast their votes.
There are four candidates competing for the two available positions:
For Mayor
- Jerry A. Mauldin
- Shane Swift
For City Council Post 1
- Hunter Collett
- Mike Young
Eligible individuals who are not yet registered to vote and wish to participate in this special election can register until the end of the day on February 18.
Early voting is set to commence on Monday, February 24, and will run through Friday, March 14, at the Gordon County Board of Elections and Registration Office located at 100 S. Wall St. Additionally, early voting will be accessible on Saturdays, March 1 and March 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Election Day, Tuesday, March 18, the Fairmount Voting precinct at the Fairmount Community Center will be open for voting from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If a runoff is necessary, it will take place on Tuesday, April 1.
