Taz Allen Cox, 31 of Centre, was arrested in Coosa after reports said he punched a 46 year-old woman in the face.
Police said that the victim was left with numerous markings on her face.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Alabama Highway and Old River Road.
Cox is charged with battery.
