Calhoun’s Nelson Named to Georgia Municipal Clerks Association Board

City of Calhoun Clerk Sharon Nelson has been elected to the Georgia Municipal Clerk Association 2025-26 Board of Directors.

Serving alongside Nelson, the other newly sworn-in board members are: Vernice Thompson of Hazlehurst as President; Marilyn Chastain of Helen as Treasurer; Janet LeViner of Thunderbolt as Secretary; and Deborah Walker-Reed of St. Marys as Immediate Past President.

“We are excited to welcome our new board members and look forward to their contributions to continuing GMCA’s legacy,” Walker-Reed said. “These newly appointed board members will bring their expertise and dedication to help us further our mission of supporting municipal clerks in their essential roles.”

According to GMCA, these clerks and professionals will help to lead the association in its mission to support and enhance the role of municipal clerks across Georgia.
