Following a tip from a student to the school resource officer, a 15-year-old male student was detained, searched, and found to be carrying a handgun at Coosa High School late Friday afternoon.
The school resource officer, in partnership with local law enforcement, acted swiftly and handled the situation with the utmost seriousness.
Floyd County Schools said, “We commend the rapid response of our local authorities in addressing this threat and ensuring the safety of our students. School safety is non-negotiable, and we will not tolerate any actions that compromise it.”
Floyd County Schools added, “we also want to thank the student who reported the incident.”
