Candace Denise Higginbotham, 42 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she allowed to 8 year-old child to miss nearly 30 days of school thus far this year.
Reports said that the child, a student at Armuchee Elementary, has missed 29 days of school, with 22 unexcused.
Officers said that they have sent numerous truancy notifications to Higginbotham before arresting her.
Higginbotham is charged with mandatory education for children.
