A 42 year-old Rome man, Matthew James Johnson, is now facing numerous felony drug charges after originally being booked in on a misdemeanor traffic violation.
Officers said that Johnson was found driving on a suspended license before attempting to run away on foot.
After being captured, and taken to jail, police said that they located a bag of suspected cocaine in the seat where Johnson had been sitting.
Upon further search of Johnson, a bag containing individual bags of heroin was also found in his possession.
Johnson is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a schedule I controlled substance, possession of a schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, unlawful possession of a controlled substance by an inmate, tampering with evidence, driving on a suspended license and obstruction.
