A 27 year-old Rome man, Josh Colton Acrey, was found not guilty of molesting a young boy this week.
After four days in court the jury came back with a not-guilty verdict after less than an hour of deliberation.
According to his attorney, Acrey and the child’s mother were involved in a civil custody dispute and he believes the child had been coached to make the allegations.
Trial testimony revealed that the mother’s initial allegation in June 2023 was declared to be false by the Gordon County Department of Family and Children Services.
