The Polk County Board of Commissioners has named Logan Shelton as its 2024 County Employee of the Year.

Shelton has worked with the Polk County Police Department for the past two years and was recently honored for his response to a homeless mother and her teenage daughter.

At getting dispatched to the call by the Polk School District, Shelton not only worked to help the family get a hot meal, but also the mother a job.

He continued to follow up with the family and even went so far as getting them a generator, refrigerator and a stove.

Detective Brandy Brady is quoted to say, “Many of our officers do these acts of kindness daily and never ask for any recognition because that’s not what it’s about. Officer Shelton, as young of a police officer, as he is, shows great maturity and compassion for this fellow man in the performance of his job.”
