The Floyd County Board of Education elected Danny Waits as Chair on Monday night.
The board also elected Tony Daniel as its Vice Chair.
The announcements came following the resignation of Chip Hood, who has elected to run for County Commission. Hood is seeking to replace Larry Maxy following his death late last year.
Hood has served on the BOE for the last 10 years.
Because Hood has left than two years of his term left the board will interview candidates from the Armuchee Community and appoint the seat.
