The Summerville City Council is looking into selling four small land parcels owned by the city, which resulted from previous “clean and lien” actions.

This was discussed during a council meeting last week, and aims to bring these properties back into use and onto the tax rolls.

City Manager Jason Winters provided details about the parcels for potential sale: 30 Peach Tree Street (0. 33 acres), 325 Highway 48 (0. 13 acres), 138 Curran Street (0. 19 acres), and 307 Highway 48 (0. 14 acres). The city acquired these parcels through a program meant to reclaim neglected properties for community benefit.

Winters recommended that the council allow him to explore ways to sell the properties, either through a public bidding process or a tax sale. Council members supported the sale, seeing it as a positive step for the city.

The council unanimously authorized Winters to investigate selling the parcels and he plans to return in January with options to reintegrate them into the local economy.
