A 66 year-old Rome woman, Tammie Pickelsimer, was killed on Monday after pulling out in front of an off-duty police officer who was responding to a bomb threat at U.S. Rep Majorie Taylor Greene’s home.
Reports said that an email was sent to the Rome Police Department that said a pipe bomb had been placed in Greene’s mailbox and would explode when opened.
Authorities stated that Pickelsimer, who was driving a Mazda car, was pulling out of Gala Shopping Center on Redmond Circle when she was struck by a 2015 GMC Sierra just before 11:30am.
Reports said that the truck struck the driver’s door of the Mazda.
Pickelsimer was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
The officer was also transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
