A truck driver, Parvinder Singh, 47 of Floral Park, New York, who killed Letha Lamb, 34 of Calhoun, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree vehicular homicide in Rome.

Singh was also sentenced to 18 years of probation.  

Reports said that Singh tested positive for driving nearly over double the legal limit of alcohol.

Parvinder Singh, 47, of Floral Park, New York, has been arrested in Rome after reports said he killed a Calhoun woman when drove his tractor-trailer down the wrong side of Highway 53 (Calhoun Road) and struck her Dodge Journey head-on around 11 pm Thursday night.  1122pm

The victim has been identified as Letha Lamb, 34 of Calhoun.

According to reports, Lamb was driving toward Rome when Singh’s 18-wheeler struck her head on near Burlington Drive.

Lamb’s 17 year-old stepdaughter was in the passenger seat and was treated and released with minimal injuries.

An opened container of alcohol was also found in Singh’s vehicle.

Singh is currently charged with felony homicide by vehicle, causing serious injury by vehicle as well as misdemeanor DUI commercial vehicle, reckless driving, driving on wrong side of road, open container and driving without headlights.

Update: CVN has learned that an IMMIGRATION CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT (ICE) hold on Singh.
