Malkhai Aurelius McKinney, 17 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he was found burglarizing a home on Spruce Street while yielding a gun.
Officers said that when they arrived on the scene McKinney fled on foot.
After being captured on W. Girard Street, McKinney continued to refuse to cooperate with officers and resisted arrest. A search then resulted in officers finding a loaded Glock 19 (9mm) handgun near a vehicle where McKinney allegedly tossed it.
When officers approached McKinney he fled on foot and jumped a fence.
McKinney is charged with aggravated assault, 1st degree burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm by a minor and obstruction.
