Rudy Agusto Lopez-Matias, 20 of Cedartown, was arrested this week after reports said he attacked his girlfriend whom he stated was cheating on him.
Reports said that officers were dispatched to a home on Fourth Street when Lopez-Matias said that he had been locked out of his home and that his girlfriend would not let him in.
Lopez-Matias then said that his girlfriend had been cheating on him and that when he got home from work she pulled a knife on him when he asked her to open her phone so that he could see who she was texting.
However, while speaking his girlfriend, officers discovered that Lopez-Matias had grabbed her arm during the argument and that she had only grabbed the knife to protect herself.
Officers then observed the victim’s arm where they found scratch marks. Lopez-Matias was arrested and charged with simple battery, and cruelty to children.
