Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver hosted the 4th annual Alabama Sheriff’s Foundation Networking and Education Conference last week. The training was held at the FEMA building in the Town of Leesburg.

Sheriff Shaver welcomed Sheriffs and members of their command staff from around 30 counties from across Alabama. The meeting included updates from the Alabama Sheriff’s Association on current issues and legislative issues. District Attorney Summer Summerford briefed the attendees on new laws and gave a legal update. The keynote speaker, Michael Laidler, delivered critical information on topics of wellness, leadership, recruitment and retention.

The information was very informative and the event allowed Alabama Sheriffs to renew and strengthen their partnerships. These partnerships allow all Sheriffs to work together in solving crime and addressing issues in their home counties.

Sheriff Shaver said, “we were honored to host this many Sheriffs and show off the beauty of Cherokee County.”

Sheriff Shaver serves on the Alabama Sheriff’s Association’s executive committee and is the district four director.

Michael Laidler is a nationally renowned motivational speaker, host of the podcast “The LEO First” and author of the book Greatness Beyond the Badge. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DBAIENDOxjY/?igsh=eHFwaTQ0aGtpbzhp
