Rome High School was placed on a lockdown Tuesday after Dalton Reese Clay, 35 of Rome, allegedly pulled a gun on a 39 year-old victim.

Reports said that Clay brandished a BB gun, that resembled an AR15 assault riffle, while driving aggressively thru traffic.

Once officers found Clay, he allegedly fled from a stop in a reckless manner while weaving in and out of traffic.  Officers said that Clay reached speeds of 95 mph before entering the Rome High School campus, where he continued at speeds of over 40 mph in the parking lot as students were attempting to walk/load cars and buses.

Clay then jumped out of his vehicle and fled into the woods on foot.

Officers were able to locate Clay, who was holding a machete with a blade larger than 12 inches while on school property.

Clay is charged with three counts aggravated assault, two counts attempting to elude police, carrying weapons in school zones, two counts obstruction, loitering in a school zone, disruption of a public school, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, two counts reckless driving, speeding and a windshield violation.
