Byron Brent Keeney, 43 of Kingston, was arrested this week for burglarizing a home on Dublin Circle in Rome.

Officers said that they found him at the home, which was burnt and nobody was supposed to be at.

This was following an initial report on October 16th that a theft was made at the home.  During the follow-up investigation, police said they spotted Keeney at the home.  While speaking with him they found a drill, hacksaw and box cutters.

The basement door was also opened with indications that a person was inside at some point.

Police added that Keeny is also accused of trying to cut cooper lines from the A/C unit.

While taking him into custody, Keeney was found with a firearm while physically resisting and threatening officers.

Keeney is charged with first degree burglary, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, theft by taking, possession of tools used to commit a crime, criminal trespass, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and felony obstruction.
