Rome City Commissioners voted on Monday 9-0 to place the new Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant on Riverside Parkway.
According to the City of Rome, the decision puts a $200 million cap on the new facility. The Environmental Protection Agency has an April 2029 completion and in-service deadline date.
The vote comes after months of debating for the facility following a $185 million dollar settlement from numerous businesses that dumped PFAS polluters in the river.
