Paulding Detectives has arrested Joseph Edwin Hinson, 20, for the murder of a 4 yeaer-old child.
Authorities said that they were dispatched to a home at 152 Village Drive in Hiram in response to a medical emergency involving the child.
When officials arrived on scene they were told that the child had fallen. However, it was soon discovered that the child had been shot in the head.
The child was soon after pronounced deceased by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators then discovered that an adult sibling to the four-year-old had left his gun unattended and that the child must have retrieved it and accidentally shot herself.
Because the adult negligently left the gun unattended, he was subsequently arrested and charged with Cruelty To Children 2nd Degree and Murder 2nd Degree.
The investigation is ongoing.
