Several months ago, GCSO detectives initiated an investigation into a reported rape at a private residence near Sugar Valley. At the time, the victim could not positively identify her attacker.

Pursuing all the available leads, detectives collected testimonial and physical evidence. Part of their evidence included DNA tests which were analyzed at the GBI’s State Crime Laboratory.

As a result of forensic analysis, our detectives have identified the suspect in this case. FELIX PEDRO SOZA-OBANDO, age 39, of 123 Carter Street, Calhoun was arrested at his home late this week without incident.

He has been charged with 1 count of Rape and is being held without bond in jail. He reported being from Nicaragua to booking deputies and is also being held on a detainer from I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement).
