For the second time in weeks, vandals have cost not only taxpayers extra funds, but residents around Parks Hoke Park in South Rome a chance to gather and enjoy playing basketball with friends.
According to Todd Wofford, vandals are using guns to repeatedly shoot out the goals around the park.
Each time a goal is broken it cost tax payers $1,250 to replace.
If anyone has any information on who is shooting out the goals, you can anonymously contact the Rome-Floyd Parks and Recreation or Rome City Police.
“We’re sad to see the vandalism and destruction that has occurred at Parks Hoke Park because it is such
a well-loved community park. These were fantastic renovations installed a couple of years ago thanks to
the 2017 SPLOST funds, and now it is going to cost taxpayers more money to fix and repair these
damages due to some careless acts. We hope to have these repaired soon so that the community can
continue to enjoy Parks Hoke Park.”
