A 24 year-old Calhoun man, Thomas James Butler, has been jailed on vehicular homicide charges following an ATV wreck that killed a passenger.
Reports said that the wreck occurred last May 17th on Boone Ford Road. Butler was driving an Polaris RZR when it crashed. Officials said that when they arrived on scene a passenger had died from injuries.
Butler was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The Georgia State Patrol was called to investigate the accident after alcohol was detected at the scene.
Due to his injuries, Butler was unable to be interviewed, however, a search warrant was taken for blood vials to be drawn for analysis
Butler has since recoved and was taken into custody on Tuesday August 27th.
He is charged with first degree vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, open container, reckless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic, and vehicles to drive on right side of the road.
