Police have released more information regarding a police chase that began in Cartersville and ended in Cobb County earlier this week.
Police went to a fight in progress in front of City Hall on North Public Square and West Cherokee Avenue and met with the reported victim after the suspect fled in a gray Nissan Sentra with a Florida tag.
The victim stated that 27-year-old Malcolm Nkosi Perdue of Riverdale was angry with him for informing his wife about his cheating. The man said he had a court date at the courthouse but mistakenly went to City Hall.
He said Perdue followed him, and when he stepped out of his vehicle, Perdue attempted to force him into his Sentra against his will and began strangling him, causing him not to be able to breathe. He stated that Perdue threw him to the ground, causing abrasions to his knee and back. The man said Perdue also snatched his phone and was going to steal it but threw it away when he saw officers arrive, which broke the phone.
An officer followed Perdue to I-75 southbound, where Emerson Police took over the pursuit. After leaving Bartow County, a Cobb County officer executed a PIT maneuver south of the I-75 and I-575 split. The Sentra rolled over and stopped.
Cobb County officers arrested Malcolm Perdue and turned him over to Emerson Police, who charged him with multiple charges, including attempting to elude a police officer.
Cartersville Police took custody of Malcolm Perdue and added charges, including aggravated assault resulting in strangulation, kidnapping, and robbery by sudden snatching.
