Detrick Deontay Morell, Jr, 17 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he was found driving a stolen 2018 Kia Sorento and then proceeded to commit a hit and run while fleeing from officers.
Police said that the chase began at the intersection of Riverside Parkway and Ga 20 when officers observed the stolen car.
Officers went on to say that during the chase Morell endangered the lives of others as he ran five red lights, a stop sign and repeatedly drove on the wrong side of the roadway.
The chase ended when he crashed into the vehicle and then attempted to flee on foot.
Morell is charged with 2nd degree criminal damage to property, hit and run, driving without license, obstruction, attempting to elude police, running a stop sign, two counts driving on the wrong side of the roadway, five counts running a redlight and reckless driving.
