Corey Dewayne Jones, 44 of Rome,  was arrested this week after leading police on a chase along Turner McCall Blvd near Riverside Parkway.

Reports said that offices attempted to stop Jones after they observed his license plate being obscured by a tag border.  Once officers initiated blue lights, Jones is accused of fleeing.  During the chase, Jones allegedly passed other cars in the turning lane nearly crashing with others.

Jones eventually stopped on a bridge and threw several bags of drugs into the river.

Officers went on to say that they detected a marijuana odor inside his vehicle.

Jones is also accused of refusing to show his hands and get onto the ground during his arrest.

Jones is charged with tampering with evidence, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, obstruction, display of license plates, and attempting to elude police.
