A 30 year-old Rome man, Jacob Pearson, was killed on Thursday after he was struck while riding a motorcycle on GA 101 just north of Rockmart.
Reports said that Samuel William Johnston, 83 of Resaca, was driving southbound in a Jeep Cherokee when he attempted to turn on Dean Road in front of Pearson.
Pearson’s motorcycle struck the side of the Jeep. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Johnston was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left, both misdemeanors.
