Rome Man Arresed After Hitting 6 Month-old Child in Face

Johnny Marshall Andrew Wheeler, 29 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he slapped a 6 month-old child in the face with his cellphone.

The incident occurred in front of another small child.

Officers added that while being taken into custody he was found in possession of marijuana.

Wheeler is charged with simple battery, 1^st degree cruelty to children, 3^rd degree cruelty to children and possession of marijuana.
