A convicted felon, Michael Lydell Johnson, 49 of Rome, was found with a large amount of drugs and a gun during a traffic stop for driving while talking on his cellphone.

Police said that when they stopped Johnson on Ga Loop 1 near Ga 293 they saw suspected marijuana inside his car.  A search then resulted in them finding multiple containers of marijuana and digital scales.

A firearm was also found inside his car.

Johnson is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon,  possession of drug related objects, possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and distracted hands free violation.
